Even though the majority of the pregnancies are normal, the doctors keep an eye on any complications that might arise. Complications if not taken care of may prevent a full term pregnancy or live birth.
Prenatal hemorrhage
Rh factor
Abnormal level of amniotic fluid
Retroversion of the uterus
Still birth
Prenatal hemorrhage is a bleeding from the placenta or other part of the reproductive tract of a pregnant woman.
The Rh factor (Rhesus factor) is a type of antigen that may be present on the red blood cells. If it present in the fetus but not in the mother, it may cause severe anemia to the fetus besides other problems. In older days, this was considered to be a problem, but in modern times, all mothers are tested for this antigen. If the result is negative, the mother is given Rhogam to prevent the complications of Rh factor.
